Kitchen Installation FAQs

Everything you need to know about kitchen installation, design, and renovation with Essex Kitchens.

Getting Started

How do I get a quote?

Simply call us on 01277 715089 or send us a message via the contact form. We'll arrange a convenient time to visit your home, carry out a detailed survey, and provide a comprehensive, itemised quote — free of charge and with no obligation.

Do I need to know what kitchen I want before calling you?

Not at all. Many clients come to us with just a vague idea of what they'd like, and our design consultants help them develop a clear vision. Others have already chosen their units and need a fitting-only service. We're flexible and happy to help at any stage.

What areas do you cover?

We cover all of Essex, including Brentwood, Chelmsford, Basildon, Southend-on-Sea, Colchester, Romford, Hornchurch, Upminster, Billericay, Rayleigh, and many more towns and villages. Call us to confirm your postcode.

Are you insured?

Yes — we carry full public liability insurance for all works. All our electrical work is carried out by Part P certified electricians, and gas work by Gas Safe registered engineers. Certificates are provided on completion.

Kitchen Design

Do you offer a kitchen design service?

Yes. Our design consultants create detailed 3D renders of your planned kitchen so you can see exactly how it will look before any work begins. Design consultations are carried out at your home.

Can you install a kitchen I've bought from a retailer?

Absolutely. We offer a fit-only service for kitchens purchased from Howdens, IKEA, Magnet, Wickes, B&Q, Wren, and other retailers. Just let us know the source when you enquire.

What kitchen styles do you install?

We install all styles — modern, Shaker, traditional, country, contemporary, and fully bespoke kitchens. We work with all the major kitchen manufacturers and can also source bespoke handmade cabinetry.

Can you work with an unusual or awkward kitchen space?

Awkward spaces are where our experience really pays off. L-shapes, galley layouts, low ceilings, chimney breasts, sloping roofs — we've worked with them all and know how to make them work beautifully.

Installation & Timelines

How long does a kitchen installation take?

A standard kitchen installation typically takes 7–10 working days. A full refurbishment with layout changes, tiling, and flooring can take 2–3 weeks. Bespoke kitchens may take longer. We'll give you a precise schedule before work begins.

Will I be without a kitchen during the installation?

You'll have limited kitchen access during the work. We recommend setting up a temporary station with a microwave and kettle. We aim to restore running water and basic appliance function as quickly as possible each day.

Do I need to be at home during the installation?

You don't need to be present at all times, but we'll need access to the property each day. Many clients give us a key and check in at the end of each day. We treat every home with the same care and respect.

What trades do you handle in-house?

We handle kitchen fitting, plumbing, electrical work (Part P certified), gas connections (Gas Safe registered), tiling, and plastering all in-house. You won't need to arrange separate tradespeople.

Cost & Payment

How much does a kitchen installation cost?

Costs vary significantly depending on the size, style, and complexity. As a guide: basic installations start from around £8,000–£12,000; mid-range kitchens £15,000–£25,000; luxury and bespoke kitchens from £25,000 upwards. We provide itemised quotes so you know exactly what you're paying for.

Do you offer finance or payment plans?

We work with a number of finance partners who offer competitive rates for kitchen projects. Ask us about financing options when you request your quote.

Is there a deposit required?

Yes — we typically require a deposit on acceptance of quote, a stage payment at the start of installation, and a final payment on satisfactory completion. Full payment terms are set out clearly in your quote.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. Our quotes are comprehensive and itemised. If we identify additional work required during the survey (such as damp treatment or structural issues), we'll discuss it with you before quoting separately — never as a surprise.

After the Installation

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes — all our installation work comes with a comprehensive workmanship warranty. Manufacturer warranties on units and appliances are passed directly to you. Full details are provided with your completion documentation.

What if I notice an issue after you've finished?

Contact us directly and we'll arrange to visit and rectify any issue as quickly as possible. Our aftercare service is something we take seriously — your satisfaction doesn't end when we pack up the van.

Can you add to or modify the kitchen at a later date?

Yes — we're happy to return to add new elements, replace appliances, or make modifications as your needs change. Many of our clients come back to us years later for extensions or refurbishments.
