Starting a kitchen installation project can feel daunting. Here's an honest guide to what happens from day one through to completion.
Having a new kitchen installed is one of the most significant home improvements you can undertake. It can feel daunting — a team of tradespeople in your home, your kitchen out of action, dust and disruption. But with the right preparation and a professional installation team, the process is far more manageable than most homeowners expect.
Before work starts, prepare by clearing the kitchen of all food, small appliances, and personal items. Set up a temporary food preparation area in another room — a microwave, a kettle, and access to a bathroom sink will cover most of your needs. Protect nearby flooring and furniture from dust with dust sheets.
On day one, our team will arrive and begin the strip-out. This is often the noisiest and most disruptive day of the project. The old kitchen is removed, waste is cleared, and the room is left as a blank canvas. It can look alarming at this stage — this is completely normal.
During the first fix stage (plumbing and electrical preparation), the work is largely hidden in walls and floors. You'll see pipework being moved, wiring being rerouted, and conduit being chased into walls. The room looks worse before it gets better — again, normal.
Cabinet installation day is when the transformation becomes visible. Units go in quickly once they start, and by the end of the first installation day you'll have a clear picture of how your new kitchen will look.
During this period, communicate with your project manager regularly. If something doesn't look right to you, raise it immediately — it's always easier to address things before subsequent stages cover them up. Our team welcomes questions and will keep you informed at every stage.
