Kitchen design moves quickly, and 2026 has brought some exciting directions for homeowners across Essex looking to renovate. Here are the trends we're seeing most frequently in our current projects.
1. Warm, earthy tones. The cool grey kitchens that dominated the previous decade are giving way to warmer palettes — sage green, terracotta, warm taupe, olive, and deep navy are all extremely popular choices right now.
2. Fluted and reeded doors. Textured door fronts with vertical ribbing (known as fluting) are one of the biggest emerging trends. They add visual interest and a sense of luxury to both contemporary and transitional kitchen designs.
3. Integrated everything. Homeowners are increasingly wanting appliances to disappear completely — integrated fridges, dishwashers, wine coolers, and even coffee machines are all in high demand.
4. Statement range cookers. The range cooker is having a major moment. Bold colours — racing green, deep blue, burgundy — are replacing the standard stainless steel as homeowners look to make their cooker a feature.
5. Broken-plan layouts. Rather than fully open-plan, many homeowners are choosing to partially separate the kitchen from living areas using a half-wall, glazed partition, or island. It retains connection while allowing separation.

10. Kitchen-diner integration. The division between kitchen and dining area is dissolving, with custom joinery, matching materials, and thoughtful furniture choices creating seamless connections between the two spaces.
